serigraphs, christmas cards, woodcuts, etc.

episode 2: past lithographs

past work: episode 1

the following images are from a show i did this past february to complete my BA in Art degree. there are 12 portraits, each being a close friend or family member emphasizing various aspects of their personality or state of mind at the time.8 of them are combination lithograph/serigraph portraits and 4 are photo emulsion serigraphs portraits. i apologize now for the photo quality, i'm still trying to work on taking the best pictures of my work that i can, which will hopefully be easier now that i have the spacial resources.

hello world!

where to begin.

my name is gabe and i am an aspiring printmaker.
welcome to my blog.
why a blog?
because, websites are expensive and i am not website savvy, but BLOGS oh the possibilities.
i needed a place on the internets to show my work as well as share my aspirations for my work so here it is.
Post.Script. Prints and Stationary.

i love printmaking, everything about it. as cheesy as this sounds, from the moment i began my first print i knew this is what i wanted to do with my life. the funny thing about that is, as with everything, you can only get better and i hope this blog can represent that growing change - i am not amazing at it, but i love doing it, i love working at it, i love the state of mind it puts me in and i love striving towards getting better at it, it brings me a lot of joy and oddly, a lot of peace. it's only through consistent work that one can get better at anything and that is my plan.

so far, the only print mediums i have experience in are lithography, serigraphy, intaglio and woodcut relief - there are so many other forms to experiment with and explore. i would say my 'concentration' out of those four is lithography and as for now, it is certainly my favorite and i want to experiment with it so much more in my future. Lately, woodcut relief prints have been taking up most of my time, which has so far been a great time and journey and i plan on working in that medium for at least the next few months. i am also a fan of serigraphy, but i find myself working the least in that medium for now because i'm working on a way to make serigraphs more accessible outside the pop art/loud color community (not that i don't appreciate that context, but i want to stretch it!)

i decided to call my blog Post.Script. because i am a writer of letters and this summer, i realized that one of my life's goals and deepest aspirations is to own a print shop that mostly specializes in stationary - paper, cards, notebooks, postcards, packaging, envelopes, ANYTHING and i find a lot of the possibilities quite endless :) this can also include prints, which is what i love doing more than anything in the world, seconded by writing letters and sending people things in the mail. so i thought 'why not combine the two?' and so my main aspiration for this blog is that it will represent the love child between the two. but, along they way i also want it to be a showcase for all of my work, even things outside of prints that i'm working on. maybe some drawings, paintings, writings, things that inspire me, probably some things that bother me - anything.

i want this to be me, at my best and sharing that with you.

so hello friends :) my next post will be of my work thus far and i hope you can enjoy this. please feel free to include any kind of feedback, hell even if i have no idea who you are, thats just dandy.
